The last regular meeting of the Mount Vernon Board of Education for 2009, held on Monday, included a presentation of “Distinguished Service Award” to outgoing board members Ian Watson and Steve Hughes.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

I think it's neat how you write these stories. How long have you been doing this? Do you get paid for it, or is it only for your liking, or both?
Also, do you film the video clips?
Are Mr. Watson and Mr. Hughes MVNU personnel? I'm not familiar with them, but I wish them well.
Rebecca,
I’ve been writing the articles since January 2009—I did some videotaping related to the subject matter of this website starting in the summer/fall of 2008. (I’ve filmed the video that comes from the YouTube and Veoh accounts with the username “mountvernon1805.”)
I don’t get paid. The coverage I saw the media giving to the Freshwater controversy wasn’t always fair or accurate—so I started this website in order to provide additional details about the story.
The only member of the Mount Vernon Board of Education that also works for Mount Vernon Nazarene University is Dr. Margie Bennett.
Glad you like the stories.
Sam,
Well, that's really neat. It looks like you enjoy writing these stories and giving them full accountability.
